Inmate charged after contacting protected person from Ontario County jail

An Ontario County Jail inmate is facing a new charge after investigators say he violated an order of protection while incarcerated.

Kurtis A. Freeman, 34, was arrested June 3 and charged with second-degree criminal contempt following an investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, Freeman mailed a letter from the Ontario County Jail to a protected person despite a valid order of protection directing him to stay away from and refrain from all contact with that individual.

Freeman was arraigned in Ontario County CAP Court and was ordered to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
