An Ontario County Jail inmate is facing a new felony charge after authorities say he intentionally damaged an electronic monitoring device belonging to county probation officials.
Kurtis Anthony Freeman, 34, of Farmington, was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into an incident at the Ontario County Jail. According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, investigators determined Freeman intentionally damaged an electronic home monitoring ankle bracelet valued at approximately $800.
The alleged damage occurred after Freeman had been arrested and booked into the jail on May 12. Authorities said the monitoring device belonged to Ontario County Probation.
Freeman was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony. He remained incarcerated at the Ontario County Jail awaiting arraignment and is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
