Cayuga Sax to open summer music series in Willard

A saxophone quartet known for blending classical, jazz, pop and contemporary music will kick off the latest season of the Lake Country Hometown Music Series in Willard later this month.

Cayuga Sax will perform a free “Kickoff to Summer Fun” concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Christ Episcopal Church on Main Street in Willard. The event follows Ovid’s annual Strawberry Festival weekend and will be followed by a reception in the church’s parish hall.

Organizers said the performance will feature summer-themed favorites including “Blue Skies,” “Over the Rainbow” and a Beatles medley. The quartet performing in Willard will include Laura Woodworth, Laura Fitzgerald, Renee Smith Mooneyhan and Lorraine Jones.

The concert is part of the church’s Lake Country Hometown Music Series, which showcases local and regional musicians through support from the Nelson P. Delavan Foundation. Christ Episcopal Church, which traces its roots to the 1880s and the former Willard Psychiatric Hospital community, hosts the series as part of its broader effort to provide community and family entertainment in the area.
