Police say a welfare check at Jefferson Park led to multiple charges after a 3-year-old child was found alone without adult supervision.
Rosemarie Escalera-Martinez, 40, of Canandaigua, was arrested May 11 following the investigation. Officers responding to the park around 8:11 p.m. located the child and determined the child had been unsupervised for about an hour.
According to police, the child was under the care of Escalera-Martinez, who was unaware the child had left the home before officers made contact.
When advised she was under arrest, police said Escalera-Martinez resisted efforts to take her into custody and later refused to cooperate during processing. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, and was transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
