The Seneca County Local Development Corporation will meet Thursday with discussions planned on the future of the Finger Lakes Regional Airport, ongoing economic development planning efforts and several redevelopment initiatives across the county.
The board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. June 4 at the Lyons National Bank Community Room in Waterloo. Among the featured agenda items is a discussion with Seneca County Planning Director Jill Henry regarding the Finger Lakes Regional Airport. Airport-related issues have become an increasing focus of the board in recent months as local businesses explore expansion opportunities tied to the facility.
The board also is expected to discuss a recent visit by consultants from RKG Associates, which has been working with county officials and stakeholders on economic development planning. During the board’s May meeting, members reviewed plans for stakeholder meetings and county tours focused on housing, infrastructure, workforce development, tourism and economic competitiveness.
Economic development coordination remains a major priority for the organization. At its last meeting, board members discussed plans for a countywide economic development summit later this year designed to bring municipalities, businesses and organizations together around shared priorities. Discussions also focused on housing shortages, infrastructure needs, tax base concerns and opportunities to revitalize commercial properties, including the Waterloo Premium Outlets.
The board is also expected to revisit an administrative and compliance services contract with MRB Group. Action on the agreement was tabled in May after members sought additional clarification about invoicing, contract structure and the scope of services that would be provided.
Several ongoing redevelopment efforts are also slated for updates, including activities involving the Ovid Local Development Corporation and the former Willard property. Airport updates and board member announcements are also listed on the agenda.
Financial documents included in the meeting packet show the organization held approximately $213,517 at the end of May. Recent expenditures included payments totaling $7,050 for consulting services provided by MRB Group and RKG Associates.
