Police: Auburn man faces charges after drunkenly threatening person with bat

Police: Auburn man faces charges after drunkenly threatening person with bat

A dispute between neighbors on Auburn’s Lawton Avenue led to felony and misdemeanor charges after police said a man threatened another person with a baseball bat.

Keith W. Rusaw, 64, was arrested May 29 after Auburn police responded to a report of a neighbor dispute shortly after 8 p.m. on Lawton Avenue. According to police, Rusaw was intoxicated and allegedly threatened the victim with a baseball bat, causing the victim to fear for his safety.

Police said the bat was not used to physically harm the victim. Following an investigation, officers charged Rusaw with second-degree menacing with a weapon, a misdemeanor, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon based on a prior conviction, a felony.

Rusaw was processed on the charges and transported to the Cayuga County Jail.

He was held pending arraignment through Cayuga County’s centralized arraignment process.
