Five Midlakes seniors commit to college athletics

Five members of the Midlakes High School Class of 2026 have committed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level while pursuing degrees in a variety of fields.

The student-athletes were recognized for signing with colleges and universities across New York, where they will compete in volleyball, track and field, cheerleading, soccer and dance.

Clara Bond will play volleyball at SUNY Canton while studying pre-law. Ciera Carnright has committed to SUNY Alfred, where she plans to compete in indoor and outdoor track and field while majoring in nursing. Corinne Hughes will continue her cheerleading career at Daemen University and study physical therapy.

Fernando Resendiz will play soccer at Keuka College while pursuing a degree in business management. Maya Stevenson, the class salutatorian, will join the competitive dance team at Nazareth University while studying physical therapy.

School officials said the students represent a range of athletic programs and academic interests, highlighting the opportunities available to Midlakes graduates as they transition to college and collegiate athletics.
