Farm Sanctuary will celebrate Independence Day and its 40th anniversary with the return of its annual Pignic event in Watkins Glen.
The family-friendly gathering is scheduled for July 4 from noon to 4 p.m. at the organization’s Finger Lakes campus, where visitors will have the opportunity to meet rescued farm animals, enjoy food and participate in a variety of activities.
Organizers said the event will feature a vegan barbecue, summer treats, live music and family-oriented activities. Guests will also have the chance to feed rescued pigs and hear remarks from Farm Sanctuary President and Co-Founder Gene Baur.
This year’s event carries added significance as Farm Sanctuary marks 40 years since its founding in the Finger Lakes region. The organization has grown into one of the nation’s best-known farm animal rescue and advocacy groups.
Tickets and additional event information are available through Farm Sanctuary. Organizers say the annual event regularly attracts families, tourists and animal lovers from across the region.
