A suspicious person complaint at Eastview Mall led to multiple charges after Ontario County sheriff’s deputies investigated an alleged shoplifting incident at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Christopher A. Tennekoon, 39, of Fairport, was charged with petit larceny, possession of burglar’s tools, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, loss prevention staff observed Tennekoon allegedly concealing and stealing $94.98 worth of merchandise from the store on May 30.
Deputies later conducted a traffic stop and reported finding the stolen merchandise along with methamphetamine. Investigators also determined Tennekoon was allegedly operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Tennekoon was transported to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office substation and released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Victor Town Court at a later date. Deputies Bassett and DeChick investigated the incident.
