A late-night traffic stop in Palmyra resulted in drunk driving charges against a Macedon man after deputies said he failed to stop at a red light before making a right turn.
Christopher William Caffyn, 54, of Yellow Mills Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI for having a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, and failure to stop at a steady red signal before a right turn, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Caffyn was stopped for a traffic infraction in the Village of Palmyra on May 28. During the investigation, officers determined he was operating the vehicle while intoxicated and took him into custody.
Authorities said Caffyn was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where he voluntarily submitted to a chemical test. The test indicated a blood alcohol content of .16%, according to deputies.
Caffyn was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in Palmyra Village Court at a later date.
