A 55-year-old Ovid man was jailed after Seneca County investigators alleged he failed to report a change of address as required under New York’s sex offender registration laws.
Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Thompson said investigators arrested Lee R. Webber on May 27 and charged him with failure to report a change of address within 10 days and offering a false instrument for filing in the second degree.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Webber is an out-of-state registered sex offender who moved to Ovid and failed to notify law enforcement or the New York State Sex Offender Registry of his new address within the required 10-day period.
Investigators also alleged that Webber submitted documentation containing false information about when he moved to the area.
Webber was arraigned in Seneca County CAP Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to appear in Ovid Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
