Friday’s sectional slate brought no shortage of firepower as offenses erupted and championship hopes moved one step closer to reality across the Wayne-Finger Lakes.
Victor girls lacrosse stormed into the semifinals behind a six-goal performance from Camryn Adrid and five assists from Meaghan O’Brien, while Geneva overwhelmed Newark/Midlakes as Meghan Forbes and Velia DeMaria combined for 11 goals. Waterloo softball kept rolling behind another shutdown outing from Gwen DiIorio, Mynderse survived a one-run battle with Attica behind Haley Young’s complete-game effort, and Canandaigua baseball advanced after an offensive surge led the Gray Wolves past Gates Chili.

The Tigers rolled into the next round behind another dominant outing from Gwen DiIorio, who fired a three-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in the circle. Ava Panek collected three hits and drove in three runs, while Olivia James added two hits and three RBI. Gwyn Panek scored three times and doubled, and Waterloo stayed aggressive on the bases with multiple stolen bases from several players.

The Blue Devils punched their ticket to the next round with a gritty effort led by Haley Young, who went the distance in the circle and stranded six runners. Ally Fenton sparked the offense with a triple, two runs scored and a stolen base, while Hannah O’Brien delivered a two-RBI double. Mercedes Santana and Mackenzie McCann each added RBI hits as Mynderse did just enough offensively to hold off Attica.
