A Mynderse Academy student has been selected to serve on a national leadership council focused on youth safety, mental health, and peer advocacy.
Brea Osborn of Seneca Falls was named to the 2026-27 National Student Leadership Council by Students Against Destructive Decisions, better known as SADD. The organization announced this year’s council members earlier this week, highlighting students from across the country chosen for their leadership and commitment to promoting healthy decision-making among young people.
Osborn, a rising junior at Mynderse Academy, is a multi-sport athlete and honors student. According to SADD, she enjoys spending time outdoors and cited “change” as her favorite SADD power word, saying she enjoys proving people wrong when they doubt her ability to make a difference.
The National Student Leadership Council works with SADD staff and national partners on youth-focused initiatives tied to traffic safety, mental health awareness, substance misuse prevention, and peer leadership. Members also help support campaigns and digital outreach efforts aimed at encouraging safer choices among teens.
The council’s work for the upcoming year will begin this summer as part of SADD’s “100 Safest Days of Summer” campaign, which focuses on promoting safe driving habits between Memorial Day and Labor Day — a period often associated with increased risks for teen drivers.
