A Moravia man was sent to the Cayuga County Jail without bail after deputies say he repeatedly violated an order of protection and threatened harm against a protected person.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested Darrin R. Badman, 34, on May 17 on a warrant charging him with aggravated criminal contempt, a class D felony.
According to investigators, deputies were initially called to a residence in the Town of Moravia on May 16 for a reported order of protection violation. During the investigation, authorities alleged Badman violated the order multiple times and made threats against the protected individual.
Sheriff’s officials said the felony charge was elevated due to Badman’s prior convictions involving violations of the same order of protection. Deputies initially could not locate him, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Badman was later found in Ithaca and taken into custody before being transported to the Public Safety Building for processing and arraignment. Because of prior convictions and an existing probation status tied to a previous criminal contempt case, Badman was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail without bail.
