Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports: May 20 scoreboard

Wednesday’s sectional action across the Wayne-Finger Lakes featured clutch postseason performances, overtime drama, and several teams punching their ticket to the next round.

Midlakes softball survived a one-run battle with Hornell behind a strong combined pitching effort from Kenzie Turner and Emma LaBour, while Clyde-Savannah baseball walked off Campbell-Savona in extra innings to advance. In boys lacrosse, Marcus Whitman closed its regular season with a high-scoring win fueled by big nights from Ayden Clark and Fischer Sleeman, and Midlakes continued its strong season with another convincing victory. On the courts, East Rochester, Bloomfield, and Naples all moved on in sectional boys tennis play, while Waterloo boys golf advanced in the Class B quarterfinals.

The Screaming Eagles opened sectional play with a one-run victory behind a strong combined effort in the circle from Kenzie Turner and Emma LaBour, who teamed up for 10 strikeouts. LaBour earned the win in relief and also doubled twice at the plate, while Turner added a hit, RBI, and run scored. Sussman delivered the game-winning RBI for the Midlakes, and Darling chipped in two RBI in the victory.
