Hopewell woman charged after order of protection violation at motel

An Ontario County woman was arrested early Monday morning after deputies said she violated an order of protection and assaulted another person during a domestic incident at a motel in Hopewell.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to Patty’s Lodge on Route 5 and 20 around 1 a.m. for a reported family trouble complaint.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested Chuncey I. Ward, 40, of Hopewell, on charges of first-degree criminal contempt, third-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree assault.

Authorities alleged Ward violated an order of protection issued through Hopewell Town Court, caused approximately $290 in property damage, and bit the protected party, leaving a wound.

Ward was transported to the Ontario County Jail, where deputies said she was being held pending further court proceedings.
