DoorDash is jumping deeper into New York politics, according to New York Focus, creating a new super PAC aimed at protecting several Assembly incumbents from progressive primary challengers.
The committee plans to back six Democratic candidates, including lawmakers facing opponents tied to the Democratic Socialists of America and Working Families Party. The move follows a surge of outside spending from corporations and political groups ahead of this year’s state races.
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg also added $1.5 million to a separate pro-charter school super PAC. The spending wave comes as major companies and political organizations increasingly pour money into competitive New York legislative primaries.
