An Ontario County traffic stop late Thursday night resulted in a drug possession charge for a Hopewell man after deputies said they discovered suspected crack cocaine inside his vehicle.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said 42-year-old Robert M. Doyle of Hopewell was arrested around 10:30 p.m. May 14 following a traffic stop near County Road 10 and County Road 50 in the Town of Hopewell.
According to deputies, Doyle was found in possession of a white rock-like substance during the stop. Authorities said a field test conducted on the substance yielded a positive result for crack cocaine.
Doyle was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Deputies said he was taken into custody without incident and later issued an appearance ticket to answer the charge in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
