Wednesday’s Wayne-Finger Lakes spring sports slate delivered late-season drama and standout scoring performances as teams continued their push toward sectional play.
Marcus Whitman boys lacrosse earned a tight victory behind five goals from Fischer Sleeman and four more from Tariku Blueye, while Victor edged Hilton in a matchup of state-ranked programs. On the girls side, Makenna Harris exploded for nine goals in Geneva’s win, Zoey Overslaugh totaled eight points for Newark/Midlakes, and Wayne rolled past Aquinas to continue its strong finish to the regular season.
In softball, Waterloo’s offense erupted in a road win over Newark, while Canandaigua baseball broke loose for a 16-run effort and Newark baseball capped the day with a decisive win over Waterloo.
