Town of Canandaigua officials are reminding drivers to use extra caution as road construction season ramps up across the community.
In a message posted for National Odometer Day, town officials encouraged motorists to slow down in work zones, stay alert for highway crews and avoid distractions behind the wheel while traveling through construction areas.
The town said ongoing infrastructure and road improvement projects throughout Canandaigua mean drivers should expect changing traffic conditions and allow additional travel time when heading through active work zones.
Officials emphasized that highway workers and contractors deserve safe working conditions while completing projects across the town.
“Our Highway crews and contractors are working hard to improve roads and infrastructure throughout the community — and everyone deserves to get home safely at the end of the day,” the town said in its statement.
The reminder comes as road work activity increases across the Finger Lakes region during the spring and summer construction season.
