Fresh produce and local business pride are fueling a new campaign in Schuyler County, according to WENY. Hector Homegrown launched this spring with an interactive map that helps shoppers find local farms, flowers, and animal products around the Hector area.
Organizers said the effort supports small businesses, cuts travel costs, and gives residents fresher food. Farmers at Muddy Fingers Farm said they focus on healthy soil and chemical-free growing practices to benefit both customers and the environment.
The program already includes about 30 participants, and organizers hope even more vendors join. Supporters say spending locally keeps more money circulating in the community and strengthens the region’s economy.
