An Auburn woman was jailed last week after police said she violated a court-issued order of protection involving an employee at a local Speedway gas station.
According to the Auburn Police Department, an officer conducting a follow-up investigation at the Speedway on North Street on May 4 recognized 34-year-old Shautee M. Brown inside the store speaking with an employee protected by a stay-away order.
Police said Brown had previously been ordered by a judge to stay away from the victim, along with the victim’s residence and workplace. Investigators later confirmed the order of protection was in effect at the time of the encounter.
Brown was arrested May 7 at the Chapel House on Franklin Street. Due to her domestic violence history, police said additional felony charges were filed.
She was charged with first-degree aggravated criminal contempt, a Class D felony; aggravated family offense, a Class E felony; and second-degree criminal contempt, a Class A misdemeanor.
Brown was processed at the Auburn Police Department and taken to the Cayuga County Jail following arraignment.
