Cuddy earns another six-year term

Cayuga County will keep the same public health leader through 2032 after the Board of Health reappointed Kathleen Cuddy, according to The Citizen. Cuddy has led the department since 2014 and guided the county through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her new six-year term begins Aug. 26. Cuddy first joined the department as deputy director before taking over the top role. She now oversees programs ranging from WIC services and lead prevention to restaurant and septic inspections.

Cuddy became a familiar face during the pandemic as the county organized testing, quarantines, and vaccine clinics. The Cayuga County Legislature will still need to approve her compensation before the new term starts.
