Geneva man charged with felony drug possession after traffic stop in Hopewell

A Geneva man was arrested on felony drug charges early Monday after Ontario County sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Hopewell, according to authorities.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped a vehicle around 1:29 a.m. on County Road 50 for multiple vehicle and traffic violations before identifying the driver as 45-year-old Clarence L. Perkins of Geneva.

During the roadside investigation, deputies determined Perkins was allegedly in possession of cocaine and charged him with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Authorities said Perkins was taken to the Ontario County Jail, where he was being held pending arraignment in CAP Court.

The investigation was handled by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
