Yates County schedules special meeting on Ferguson Corners bridge project

Yates County lawmakers will convene a special Public Works Committee meeting next week to address new cost and scope concerns tied to a key bridge rehabilitation project.

The meeting is set for noon on May 11 in the Legislative Chambers at the county office building in Penn Yan, where officials are expected to review projected costs, timeline impacts, and additional work associated with installing a temporary access bridge for the Ferguson Corners Road Bridge project.

County officials said the temporary bridge component has introduced new variables that could affect both the budget and construction schedule, prompting the need for a special session to evaluate next steps.

The Ferguson Corners Road Bridge rehabilitation has been a priority infrastructure project, and the addition of a temporary access bridge suggests potential complications in maintaining traffic flow or construction access during the work.

The Public Works Committee will review those implications and determine how the added scope could affect the overall project timeline and cost structure.

The meeting will be open to the public, with both in-person attendance and remote access available.
