Fulton hits milestone as William Smith lacrosse cruises past Rochester, reaches Liberty League final

Kira Fulton recorded her 100th career point while scoring four goals and adding an assist as the William Smith College lacrosse team defeated the University of Rochester 15-6 in a Liberty League semifinal on Friday at Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium. The fifth-ranked Herons, now 16-2, seized control early and never looked back, ending Rochester’s season at 15-6.

William Smith overwhelmed Rochester from the outset, scoring 12 of the game’s first 13 goals to build a commanding halftime lead. Fulton’s milestone came during a three-goal opening burst in the first four minutes, igniting an offense that featured nine different goal scorers. Mia Falco added two goals and two assists, while Taryn Luzi and Katie Grottenthaler each produced multi-goal efforts.

The Herons’ defense was just as dominant, limiting Rochester to a season-low six goals and just five shots in the first half. William Smith forced 15 turnovers and controlled possession throughout, highlighted by Grace Rund’s five draw controls and Lauren Collins’ four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Caitie Baker added three caused turnovers, and Casey Fiore made eight saves in a complete-game effort.

After Rochester briefly found rhythm early in the second half, William Smith answered to maintain its cushion. Falco converted a free-position opportunity, while Luzi and Iris Polly added late goals to secure the win.
