A Scipio man already in custody is facing new charges after investigators say he violated an order of protection from inside the Cayuga County Jail.
Benjamin L. Tyrrell, 38, was arrested April 23 and charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the charge stems from an investigation launched in April that found Tyrrell had allegedly contacted a protected individual despite a full stay-away order of protection.
Tyrrell was arraigned at CAP Court, where bail was set at $8,000 cash or $16,000 bond.
