As severe weather becomes more frequent across the region, city officials in Canandaigua are inviting residents to learn what happens when emergencies strike — and how to be better prepared.
The City of Canandaigua will host a public information session on Thursday, April 30, focused on how local agencies respond to storms, flooding, and power outages.
The event will feature a panel discussion and Q&A with representatives from the city’s fire and police departments, public works, and the Canandaigua Emergency Squad. Officials say the goal is to give residents a clearer understanding of how emergency response unfolds during the first critical hours of a weather event.
Topics will include how crews prioritize calls and deploy resources, how city and county agencies coordinate during large-scale incidents, and what residents — particularly those with medical needs or disabilities — should plan for ahead of time.
Organizers say the session is designed to be interactive, allowing attendees to ask questions and get direct answers from the agencies responsible for managing emergencies.
The session will run from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Canandaigua Emergency Squad building at 223 North Pearl Street.
City officials are encouraging residents to attend and use the opportunity to better understand how to stay informed, prepared, and ready when severe weather hits.
