Theatre444 to stage ‘Amélie’ in Geneva this June

A whimsical story about connection, imagination and quiet acts of kindness is coming to the Finger Lakes stage this summer.

Theatre444 will present its production of “Amélie” in Geneva beginning June 5, bringing the beloved French story to local audiences through a musical adaptation inspired by the 2001 Academy Award-nominated film.

The show follows Amélie, a shy and imaginative young woman living in Paris who finds purpose in secretly improving the lives of those around her. As she creates small moments of joy for others, she’s forced to confront her own fears when a chance at love challenges her isolation.

Artistic Director Pam Rapoza said the production aligns closely with the company’s mission to tell stories that reflect the human experience.

“Amélie reminds us that even the smallest gesture can change a life,” Rapoza said. “It’s a beautiful, quirky and deeply moving story that celebrates the community and art that define our company.”

The musical features a folk-inspired score and expands on the original film’s themes, offering a theatrical take on connection and the courage to be seen.

Performances will run June 5 through June 13 at the Geneva Community Center on Carter Road. Tickets are available online.
