Mets swept by Rockies in doubleheader, lose all three in series

The New York Mets were swept in a Sunday doubleheader by the Colorado Rockies at Citi Field, falling 3-1 in Game 1 and 3-0 in Game 2 to drop to 9-19 on the season, while Colorado improved to 13-16 with the three-game sweep. New York’s offensive struggles defined both contests, producing just one run across 18 innings despite multiple scoring opportunities.

In the opener, the Mets managed only four hits and went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position, stranding six. Nolan McLean was sharp early, retiring the first nine batters he faced, but ran into trouble in the middle innings and took a tough-luck loss after allowing two runs, one earned, over 5 2/3 innings. Aaron Judge accounted for the lone run with a sixth-inning solo home run on his 34th birthday, but New York failed to capitalize after loading the bases in both the first and eighth innings.

Game 2 followed a similar script as the Mets were shut out despite five hits. Kodai Senga struggled with command and was lifted in the third inning after allowing three runs. Chase Dollander controlled the game with seven scoreless innings, while the Mets went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven on base. The bullpen provided scoreless relief, but the offense never responded.
