Water is creeping onto lawns and closing boat launches as Seneca Lake inches toward flood stage, according to RochesterFirst.
Levels hit 447.62 feet Friday, just shy of the 448-foot mark for minor flooding. Officials warn that incoming rain could push the lake higher, especially with already saturated conditions across the Finger Lakes.
Experts say the problem isn’t just one lake. High water across the region limits how much can be diverted through canal systems, while wind-driven waves could worsen shoreline flooding. Leaders are now watching conditions closely as the weekend storm approaches.
