Seneca Falls students win $25K composting system

A group of Seneca Falls students turned a school project into a major environmental win, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

Mynderse Academy’s GR&EEN Club earned a $25,000 composting system after winning a statewide contest at the Organics Summit in Syracuse. The new equipment will replace an aging setup and allow the school to resume on-site composting.

Students and teachers say the program has already diverted more than 77 tons of food waste from landfills. With the upgrade arriving in May, they hope to expand efforts and cut even more waste while gaining hands-on sustainability experience.
