A Corning-Painted Post School District teacher and coach has been charged with child endangerment following an investigation by local authorities.
Eric M. Kizis, 50, of Painted Post, was arrested on April 22 and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Corning Police Department.
Officials said the charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office. Specific details about the allegations were not released.
Kizis has been employed by the district since 2007 and has held multiple roles, including head varsity baseball coach from 2017 until this season, as well as varsity bowling coach and athletic manager.
In a statement, the Corning-Painted Post School District said the staff member has been placed on administrative leave and declined further comment.
Kizis was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Corning City Court at a later date.
