The New York Mets will be without Francisco Lindor for the immediate future after placing him on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a strained left calf.
The injury occurred while he was running the bases during Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins, a win that ended the club’s 12-game skid.
To fill the roster spot, New York promoted infielder Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A.
The setback comes at an inopportune time for Lindor, who had begun to find his rhythm at the plate. Over his previous five games, he went 7-for-17 with a home run, a double, four runs batted in, and three runs scored. On the season, he holds a .226 batting average with a .314 on-base percentage and a .355 slugging mark.
With Juan Soto recently returning to the lineup, Lindor had just been moved into the cleanup spot for the first time since 2023.
This marks only the third injured list stint of Lindor’s career and his first since 2021, when an oblique injury sidelined him for more than a month.
In the meantime, the Mets have options to cover shortstop. Bo Bichette could slide back to his natural position, as he did late in Wednesday’s win, or Mauricio—who has impressed in Syracuse with a .293 average and .987 OPS—could take on a larger role.
