Hobart College’s top student-athletes were recognized for excellence across competition, academics and leadership during the annual Block H Awards, a ceremony that highlighted one of the most accomplished senior classes in recent program history.
Senior hockey goaltender Damon Beaver headlined the night, earning the Francis L. “Babe” Kraus ’24 Memorial Award as Hobart’s Athlete of the Year after a dominant career that included national honors and record-setting performances.
The awards, presented by the Hobart College Athletic Department and the Statesmen Athletic Association, honor athletes who distinguish themselves not only through performance, but also through character, leadership and commitment to their programs.
Among the top honors, senior soccer player Brian Sheehan and senior hockey player Tanner Daniels received the William C. Stiles ’43 Memorial Award, recognizing leadership, determination and character. Senior hockey player Tristan Fasig earned the Hanna Award for Excellence, while senior baseball player Christian Petry and senior hockey player Kahlil Fontana shared the Thomas B. Poole ’61 Award, which honors loyalty, leadership and dedication to team culture.
The ceremony also highlighted standout individual performances across multiple sports. Beaver’s season included a 20-1 record with a 0.99 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage, along with multiple national honors.
Other notable honorees included Daniel Barrientos, who earned recognition for his achievements in diving, and Will Patton, a national champion in slalom skiing who was honored for his impact as a first-year athlete.
The annual event serves as a capstone for Hobart athletics, celebrating athletes who have shaped the program both on and off the field, while setting a standard for future Statesmen to follow.
