Music, murals, and a new historical marker turned a school day into a birthday celebration for Marion’s bicentennial, according to The Times of Wayne County.
Students at Marion Central School District gathered with local leaders and historians to honor the town’s 200-year history. The event featured performances by the Marion Symphonic Band and remarks from town officials, along with artwork highlighting key moments from the past.
The celebration also traced Marion’s roots back to 1826, when it split from Williamson and took its name from Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion, giving students a deeper connection to their community’s story.
