The Syracuse Orange men’s lacrosse team took down the Colgate Raiders, 14-7, on Saturday evening at the JMA Wireless Dome, as Joey Spallina became the program’s all-time points leader in a dominant regular-season home finale. With the win, No. 5 Syracuse improved to 11-3, while Colgate dropped to 5-7.

Spallina made history early, recording the record-breaking point in the first quarter to surpass the previous mark and later finishing with seven points on two goals and five assists. His performance highlighted a balanced offensive effort, with Michael Leo and Finn Thomson each scoring four goals and adding an assist. Syracuse jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and controlled the tempo throughout, building a 7-4 advantage by halftime behind consistent ball movement and efficient scoring.
Colgate kept the game within reach in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to three goals heading into the final period. However, Syracuse pulled away decisively in the fourth, as Thomson scored three consecutive goals in a short span to extend the lead. Payton Anderson added a man-up goal late to cap the scoring, while the Orange defense held Colgate scoreless over the final stretch.
Defensively, Jimmy McCool anchored the effort with 10 saves, helping Syracuse limit scoring chances and maintain control after halftime. The Orange also benefited from strong contributions throughout the lineup, continuing a trend of balanced production on both ends of the field.
Syracuse will close out the regular season on Saturday, April 25 at 12 p.m. when it travels to face Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
