The Buffalo Sabres now know when their long-awaited return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs will begin. The NHL announced Thursday night that Game 1 of Buffalo’s first-round series against the Boston Bruins will be played Sunday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at KeyBank Center, marking the franchise’s first postseason game in 15 years.

The opponent was already set, but the date and puck drop had remained uncertain until the league finalized the opening-round schedule. The full series slate was also released, with Game 2 set for Tuesday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Buffalo before the series shifts to TD Garden for Game 3 on Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m. and Game 4 on Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. If necessary, Game 5 will be played Tuesday, April 28 in Buffalo, Game 6 on Friday, May 1 in Boston and Game 7 on Sunday, May 3 in Buffalo.

All first-round games will air locally on MSG, with national broadcasts split between ESPN and TNT platforms depending on the matchup. Radio coverage will be carried on WGR 550, and fans can also stream MSG with a subscription to Fubo or the Gotham Sports App.

Tickets for the opener have already sold out, reflecting the surge of excitement around the team’s return to playoff hockey. Fans who can’t get inside the arena will still have options, as Sabrehood Block Parties will be held for every home playoff game, featuring a pregame Party in the Plaza and an in-game watch party at Canalside.
