A Penn Yan man is facing multiple felony charges after a months-long investigation into an alleged relationship with a minor, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Mayhew, 18, was arrested April 15 on Clinton Street in Penn Yan following an investigation that began earlier this year. Authorities allege the incidents occurred in January 2026 and involved a sexual relationship with a minor.
Mayhew has been charged with use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a child, sexual misconduct, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Deputies took Mayhew into custody and transported him to the Yates County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment in centralized arraignment court.
The investigation involved multiple members of the sheriff’s office, including investigators and supervisory staff. No additional details about the victim were released.
