A late-night barn fire in Cayuga County left dozens of animals dead but no injuries to people, according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded around 9 p.m. Monday to a property on State Route 326 in the town of Aurelius, where a barn was reported to be on fire.
When crews arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames. The property owner told authorities that approximately 40 ducks, 30 turkeys, several chickens and one pig were inside the barn at the time and were unable to escape.
All of the animals perished in the fire, officials said. No injuries to people were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
