Cayuga County legislators will meet Tuesday to consider a funding application tied to a major infrastructure project at Emerson Park.
The special meeting, scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Ward O’Hara Agricultural Museum in Auburn, will focus on a resolution authorizing an application to the Northern Border Regional Commission’s Timber for Transit Program.
If approved, the resolution would allow the county’s Parks and Trails Department to seek funding to replace a critical access bridge to Deauville Island, a key feature within Emerson Park in the Town of Fleming.
The total project is estimated at more than $2.7 million, with the county responsible for a required 20% match of approximately $543,500. Officials say that match would be covered through the county’s general fund if the grant is awarded.
The county has already invested more than $265,000 in the design phase of the project, positioning it to move forward if funding is secured.
In addition to authorizing the application, the resolution would permit the chair of the legislature to execute any agreements necessary to complete the project, pending legal review.
Legislators may also take up any additional business that comes before the board during the special session.
