Bright rooms, fresh air, and room to roam now define a major upgrade for local animals, according to The Times of Wayne County.
The Humane Society of Wayne County has moved into a new $4.5 million, 10,000-square-foot facility off Route 31 in Lyons. Director Mark Plyter says the modern space boosts care with geothermal heating, advanced air systems, and a surgical suite for in-house procedures.
The shelter added open cat areas, isolation wings for sick animals, and a community room already in use. Officials expect adoptions—currently over 1,000 yearly—to climb, especially after a recent intake of 25 dogs. A ribbon cutting is planned soon as fundraising continues.
