A routine traffic stop in the Village of Bath early April 9 led to a drug-related arrest after police reported finding paraphernalia and controlled substances inside a vehicle.
Officers with the Bath Police Department said the stop occurred around 1:15 a.m. on West Morris Street after observing multiple violations of state vehicle and traffic law.
During the stop, officers observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and launched an investigation. Police said a passenger, identified as Deanna M. Lewis, 43, of Bath, was found in possession of controlled substances, including buprenorphine hydrochloride and buprenorphine naloxone.
Lewis was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor. She was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
The driver, Leonard E. Storms, 57, of Bath, was issued traffic tickets for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and failure to stop before entering a public roadway, a violation.
Both are scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
