A late-night house fire in Wayne County sent four people, including two children, to the hospital after they escaped a fully engulfed home.
Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:49 p.m. Friday to a structure fire at 10727 Wolcott Road in the Town of Rose, where the residence was already heavily involved in flames upon arrival.
Authorities said two adults and two children inside the home were able to evacuate safely before first responders arrived. All four were transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Multiple fire departments assisted at the scene, including Rose, North Rose, Wallington, Alton, Savannah, Clyde, Wolcott and Sodus. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and deputies said additional follow-up is expected.
