Powerful winds pushed waves over the shoreline and left piles of debris across Geneva’s lakefront, according to Finger Lakes Times.
City crews spent hours clearing wood, broken dock pieces, and plastic that washed over the seawall after heavy rain raised Seneca Lake levels late last month. Officials say the combination of high water and strong south winds created the damage.
Workers also blocked off sinkholes along the shoreline and plan further inspections with engineers. Crews continue cleanup as the city urges visitors to avoid restricted areas and stay clear of equipment.
