A surprise election win turned into a quick resignation in Penn Yan, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Village Trustee Teresa Hoban stepped down from the Milo Town Board, saying she couldn’t ethically serve both roles at once. She explained she never expected to win the town seat and ran mainly to avoid an uncontested race.
After three months, Hoban said the dual positions created a conflict. She chose to focus on her village role, calling it the best way to serve voters and uphold her responsibilities.
