Pilots across the Finger Lakes aren’t seeing drones as a threat, even as Monroe County pushes for stricter laws, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Airport managers in Canandaigua, Seneca Falls, Williamson, and Penn Yan say they’ve had no major issues with drones near runways. Some report occasional sightings, but operators typically follow FAA rules and coordinate flights when needed.
Officials stress that compliance makes the difference. While Monroe County wants stronger state enforcement, local law enforcement says drone use has increased but hasn’t caused serious problems. Authorities continue urging hobbyists to follow safety rules to keep skies clear.
