The New York Yankees improved to 7-1 with a 9-7 win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday night at Yankee Stadium, rallying from an early deficit before Giancarlo Stanton’s go-ahead hit sealed it.
New York fell behind 4-0 early as Ryan Weathers labored through 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks. The Yankees chipped away, getting on the board with Cody Bellinger’s first home run of the season in the fifth.
The offense broke through in the sixth. Trent Grisham delivered an RBI single, Aaron Judge followed with a game-tying hit, and Bellinger added a sacrifice fly to give the Yankees their first lead. Stanton later scored on a wild pitch in the seventh to extend the advantage.
Miami answered against the bullpen, tying the game six in the eighth after Camilo Doval allowed three hits. The Yankees responded immediately, loading the bases before Stanton ripped a two-run single to put New York back in front. Another run scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-6.
Stanton finished with the decisive hit and also added a stolen base, his first in the regular season since 2020. The Yankees drew 11 walks and overcame a six-hit night by capitalizing on opportunities.
David Bednar closed it out despite allowing a run, striking out two to secure the win.
The Yankees wrap up the series Sunday against the Marlins, with first pitch set for 1:35 p.m. Max Fried is scheduled to start against Chris Paddack.
