New York will host a series of events in April to recognize children in military families.
The state Department of Veterans’ Services announced the “Month of the Military Child” program with free events held statewide.
Officials said the events will offer family-friendly activities and require advance registration due to limited space.
“Military children serve, too – through strength, resilience, adaptability, and unwavering support of their families,” said Commissioner Viviana M. DeCohen.
The schedule includes events at museums, a carousel, a zoo and other venues across the state from April 4 through April 26.
Each participating child will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a proclamation signed by the governor.
Some events have reached capacity, and waitlists are available for others.
