The updated data shows 33,578 individuals in custody as of March 1, a 2% increase from the previous year.

Bare Hill Correctional Facility closed March 11, reducing the number of operational facilities statewide to 41.

The dashboards report 28 deaths in custody during the first two months of 2026, compared to 24 during the same period in 2025.

Staffing data shows a 26% vacancy rate across facilities as of July 2025, totaling 5,977 open positions. Security staff vacancies reached 30%, with health services at 24%.

Workers’ compensation data shows a 7% increase in work-related incidents in fiscal year 2025 and a 30% increase since 2020. Total system-wide compensation reached $212.2 million.

The updated map includes facility-level data on population, capacity, staffing and camera usage.

The release follows a new law requiring the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to provide quarterly data to the organization, including custody, staffing and incident records.
